Partnership with The V Foundation

The Garry Betty Foundation has joined forces with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, creating a powerful synergy for both organizations to achieve their common goal of fighting cancer through raising money for scientific research. The Garry Betty Foundation is committed to raising money to fund important areas of cancer research and ultimately finding a cure for cancer. In this partnership, the Garry Betty Foundation will work with the The V Foundation to raise money for cancer research and will leverage the The V Foundation infrastructure for scientific evaluation, grant management and oversight, financial administration and marketing support.

Initial Project
The first initiative of The Garry Betty Foundation/V Foundation collaboration is working with the Georgia Cancer Coalition to fund The Garry Betty/V Foundation Chair of Cancer Nanotechnology position at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. All research grants funded by this effort will be named the Garry Betty/V Foundation Research Grant.

The V Foundation
The V Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. The Foundation seeks to make a difference by generating broad-based support for cancer research and by creating an urgent awareness among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer. The V Foundation performs these dual roles through advocacy, education, fundraising and philanthropy.

The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, as he battled cancer. Wanting to see the battle through to victory, Valvano recruited friends and family to lead The V Foundation in his quest to eradicate the disease that ultimately claimed his life. With a dire need for early developmental, critical-stage grant support, the Foundation was formed to assist the brilliant young researchers that will eventually find cures for cancer.
